still in grad school, and have a new (sort of) hobby.. i've always liked guns.
Excuse me but like I said, the government is bigger then any John Doe (no pun intended) and his gun. They usually show up in hordes of 36 or more, with bullet proof vests, tear gas, tazers, batons, megaphones, and battering rams. I really don't think Yosemite Sam and his rootin tootin two gun belt will protect his home from the Gestapo.
So, you see the government as a bully? Tell me this, do you think a bully will be more apt to attack someone with or without a weapon.

To be honest the 2nd Amendment nor any of the amendments don't grant you shit in this corrupt world. If the government don't like you, they are gonna come and a taka away you a housa. They are a legal mafia. They do what they want. That piece of paper is there to blind the symbol minded into thinking they have something over others in the world. That piece of paper is really bupkis today in this corporation we live in. America is not a country. It's a corporation. The constitution was designed for when it was a country... One very important reason for firearm ownership is to prevent the government from doing as you say.

One more quick thing. Fear of guns is a good thing. The bold who don't fear guns are usually the ones who get shot. Out of fear, many people keep putting bigger locks on their doors and protect their families. Which is why I don't see the point in saying that I have too big a fear of firearms, when the very people who claim to be buying them for protection, must be afraid of a possible robbery or home invasion? Perhaps fear is the center of this? I don't know everything. But I do know how to keep a conversation to a calm discussion and not start with the badgering. And I certainly didn't see this thread going there. I think we can be civilized... Please don't shoot me! With love, John
A reasonable fear of guns can be a good thing. Irrational fear of anything is never constructive. Hmm, the bold usually get shot? Were you bold with no fear? I wonder how many here have been shot. Fear has nothing to do with my ownership of firearms. I like them, plain and simple. I like shooting them--I like target practice. Am I to assume you're not going to answer my question in my previous post?

Look, simple basic question for you guys:Would the world be a safer place with or without guns? Answer of course is yes the world would be safer without guns period. No ifs ands or buts about it.
Why is this so difficult? Because I feel that deep down people have an itch to fire a gun. Case in point, myself. 5 years ago I was shot while acquring my own property from a warehouse. I sued the person who thought they were being john law stopping a crime. The person did not realize that the flashlight in my hand was not a gun. This person is now doing time for attempted murder instead of being labeled a hero for stopping a would be robbery. This is all because they had a gun and not a phone in their hand.

You have an unreasonable fear of guns, John. Let me make sure I'm understanding your argument. If people do not have guns, they will be more apt to obey laws and less apt to injure others? Is this correct? What is your basis for this position, other than irrational fear?
my mum was just telling me today how 'good' my cousin is as she got to the assembly with her four kids, even though one of them is poorly with chicken pox!.

why do people bang their cigarette pack against their hand before opening a new pack???????

I'm surprised none of the smokers have posted this. I don't smoke, but I do know why they tap the packs. Supposedly, it packs the tobacco against the end of the ciggarette and makes them burn longer.
well, it's been brewing for a long time and i was getting ready for it, but i've finally gotten the shun-for-life from my folks.

with all the threads, all the responses and comments, it is nearly impossible sometimes to follow-up on everything you read or write.
more then ever, if threads get real large, you have a hard time figuring out who is responding to whom.
so with this in mind, ever let off a bomb with one of your comments and not even follow up and until much later, not even realizing it happened?
I've tried to let bombs off and get away before, but they always end up following me around. Perhaps I should get filtering undergarments?
if it's true that the society is starting a special campaign against "false religion", we may have them at our mercy!!!!!!!!!.
think about it: if they are stupid enough to print some cheap tract that shows churches and 'stars of david' as 'false religion', we may.
be able to cause enormous trouble by sending these to all public agencies dealing with intolerance and prejudice.. more than that, by posing as witnesses, these tracts may be sent to various people and groups with accompanying letters.
Worst idea I've ever heard. Sounds like a snl skit gone awry. Yeah, lets all go dress up as Jehovah's Witnesses to overthrow their tyrannical little empire. Afterwards, we'll pose as Amway salesmen and sell people junk to hurt Amway's reputation.
